Meet the 6th District City Council Candidates both Formally and Informally

The Grey Lodge Pub, 6235 Frankford Ave, invites residents in the 6th City Council District to meet the Democratic candidates in an informal atmosphere on Tuesday, before the formal debate on Thursday.

Tuesday: Informal Meet and Greet at The Grey Lodge Pub
On Tuesday April 26, Bobby Henon will join them at 7pm, and Marty Bednarek will join them at 8pm. This will be an opportunity to meet both candidates separately in a very informal atmosphere.

They have invited Republican candidate Sandy Stewart, who is unopposed in the primary, to join them for their Meet the At-Large Council Candidates Night on Friday, May 6 , and for a separate meet and greet closer to the general election.

The Grey Lodge as a policy never endorses any candidates. The objective of their meet the candidate nights is to help us all be better informed voters.

Thursday: Formal Debate at Tacony Branch Library
On Thursday the 28 at 7pm, The Committee of Seventy and the League of Women Voters will be folding a debate with all three candidates at the Tacony Branch Library, 6742 Torresdale Ave.

Location: Friends Center, 1501 Cherry Street, Philadelphia

The Greater Philadelphia Roundtable: Join in a discussion of Philadelphia history and issues, and help to shape the project to create an Encyclopedia of Greater Philadelphia! During 2011-12, our theme is “Phrasing Philadelphia,” as we take a look behind the slogans for the history and ideas that unite and sometimes divide us.

The Holy Experiment

A Quaker, William Penn intended Pennsylvania as a “Holy Experiment” dedicated to tolerance for all religious practices. In this discussion, we focus on religion and faith communities, from the colonial era to the present. The panel will be moderated by Randall Miller of St. Joseph’s University with panelists including Emma Lapsansky-Werner of Haverford College; Maris Gillette of Haverford College (and the Muslim Voices project); Rabbi George Stern of the Neighborhood Interfaith Movement; and Tuomi Forrest of Partners for Sacred Places.
